When it comes to the chassis, we prioritize strength and durability. The Tuff and Tourer models are constructed on an Australian-engineered and fabricated 6” Duragal RHS Steel chassis. This robust chassis design ensures exceptional strength and gives you complete confidence in the structural integrity of our Caravans (unlike some competitors, who use C-Section or perforated rails).
As for the Tungsten X-Terrain and X-Treme models, we take things up a notch with a custom Urban 300MM trussed and reinforced chassis. This advanced engineering ensures even greater resilience and toughness, perfect for handling off-road challenges with ease. To provide an additional layer of protection for the X-Treme, we coat the chassis with a Poly Urea coating, safeguarding against various environmental elements.
The next major building block when putting a Caravan together is what sits on top of the chassis. Caravan frames have traditionally been made of timber, which is extremely susceptible to rot - This can lead to significant issues over time. We have completely re imagined the Caravan frame with a TIG-Welded aluminium frame. While some other companies advertise an aluminium frame, they often use rivets to put it together. Unfortunately, this riveted construction can lead to stress fractures or cracks in the frame when under load, compromising its durability.
In contrast, the Urban approach is far superior. We fuse together the frame sections through TIG-welding, creating a seamless one-piece frame section. This technique eliminates weak points and enhances the overall structural integrity of the Caravan. To further reinforce the frame, we lockbolt the wall, front, rear, and roof sections together. This innovative design allows the frame to flex, providing excellent durability and resistance on even the roughest adventures.
Creating a strong adhesion between the chassis and the frame is vital for the longevity of your Caravan. Many manufacturers opt for the approach of bolting the frame directly to the flooring, but over time, this can lead to problems as the Caravan undergoes regular use.
We've taken a different and more reliable approach. Our innovative system involves using a Z-Channel Wall Support, which means the frame is bolted directly to the chassis itself. This setup provides exceptional structural integrity and prevents the issues that can arise from the frame being attached solely to the flooring.
By directly connecting the frame to the chassis, we create a secure connection that will withstand the pressures of various terrains.
Right from first glance, our use of premium materials is apparent. We take pride in our meticulous craftsmanship, starting with the furniture, which is all CNC cut in-house. We use tongue and groove joints, which are then secured with a combination of glue, and screws.
When it comes to our cabinets, we only select top-quality kiln-dry Pine, ensuring a beautiful, lightweight and solid finish. The attention to detail extends to our seating and headboards, wrapped in luxurious microfiber leather from Shann Group, bound together with custom stitching.
